Taylor and Martin (T&M) provides auction services in the heavy equipment industry. The T&M associates many times will be in the field to gather information on the auction items. They had a challenge assuring they had all the equipment information and it was accurate. The day of the auction they need an efficient way, in the field, to verify the equipment specification and check in.
The X-eqt team built the Equipment system utilizing T&M’s existing IBM I-series core system database DB2. The system will run on portable devices such as T&M’s standard iPads and iPhones as well as desktops utilizing a browser client. The requirements for the equipment specifications needed to be extremely flexible, the system architecture included a Metabase configuration that supports any equipment configuration including photographs. The process is guided with automated workflow tools ensuring all the information is collected and verified before the item is sold. Geo-locating capability has been identified for the next phase of this system.
The system is in a pilot release with very positive feedback. The system scope has intentionally increased to include deployment into other departments within the company.
